Show and tell!

At last Thursday evening’s meeting Alan Chowney congratulated those members whose images had been entered for Round 2 of the NIPA competition. Four members, Frances Price, Doug McCart, Terry Hanna and John McCullough each had images starred, which means that they scored at least 13 out of a possible 15. Alan was pleased to be able to announce that Ballynahinch CC is currently lying joint third in the Northern Ireland Photographic Association competition.

The evening took the form of a ‘show and tell’ when club members showed Still Life photographs they had taken. They then shared the particular techniques they had used to capture the images and any post processing which had been carried out. This was a very informative session and everyone picked up tips on how to improve their photography.

Round 4 of the NIPA competition will be held in January and the theme is ‘Human impact on the environment’. As usual, NIPA has been deliberately vague as to the interpretation of the title and so, in an effort to stimulate discussion and imaginations, potential images will be shared and critiqued at this week’s meeting. It is hoped that this will encourage members to get their cameras out and take some winning images.

New members are always welcome and if anyone with an interest in photography would like more details of joining the club they should visit the club website - –
