'Zooming' into the new season!
Thursday 3 September saw the first meeting of the new season, but instead of the usual venue, members met ‘online’ via the medium of Zoom. Club Chairman, Terry, welcomed everyone who had managed to join the group. Any initial teething problems with the technology were soon ironed out and we were all able to see and hear each other.
Terry talked us through the programme which the committee has put together to keep the club going until Christmas, trying to have a selection of activities and speakers which will appeal to everyone.
John Knipe and Terry explained how to rename and resize images on Photoshop and Lightroom in preparation for submitting them for competition. (1600 pixels widest side and 1200 pixels highest side)
Keith Wilson demonstrated the new way he has developed for submitting images using Google Forms. This promises to be a simpler method than the previous one which depended on attaching files to an email – only time will tell! Full details will be posted in the near future.
Gary Cowan talked us through the various pages of the website and asked more members to submit images for the Gallery.
Angela McCullagh then explained how membership fees (held at last year’s prices) can be paid by cheque, bank transfer or possibly even PayPal. On receipt of fees, Angela will issue new membership numbers which will be needed for entry to the various competitions.
Terry finished off the evening by talking about Abstract Photography which is the genre for Round 2 which will be judged in October.
Next week is a Q&A evening when members are encouraged to come along with at least one question relating to photography. No question will be deemed too basic, so come along and join in – and of course, you may also be able to answer some of the questions too! Every day’s a school day, so hopefully we’ll all learn something new.
Virtual meetings will be held weekly on Thursday evenings at 7.45pm. The programme is posted on the club website – www.ballynahinchcameraclub.co.uk. Frances will send out an invitation by email each week and it is only a matter of clicking on the link and following the instructions. You can use a smart phone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer so long as you have Wi-Fi connection.
